Olympus arrives this year with its new camera, the Olympus IR-300 which is a special camera and supposed to set new standards in the market! It was shown in North America on the 17/2/05. The Olympus IR-300 will be sold for 350in the United States, a very interesting deal. This nice camera measures 99 x 53 x 22 mm while weights 160 g. The IR-300 has for maximum resolution 2560 x 1920. You can also set it at a lower resolution of 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 1024 x 768, 640 x 480. The image ratio on the Olympus IR-300 is 4:3, for a total of 4.9 mega pixels. The sensor on the IR-300 is a CCD of dimensions 1/2.5 " and uses a RGB color filter.

Olympus added a digital zoom on its IR-300 and also added an internal flash which is always essential in a camera . The normal focus range between the camera lens and the object is 50 cm. The minimum shutter speed (min. exposition to light) on the IR-300 was set at 4 seconds while the maximum shutter speed is 1/2000 seconds. Movie clips are also supported on this camera which is always a useful function. The Olympus IR-300 has an internal storage space of 15 mb and can be extended with external storage by using xD Picture Card + Internal.

The LCD screen available on the IR-300 measures 2.0 ". A video output is available making it handy to watch pictures on your television. Connection to a computer is available through USB.
