Olympus is back with its new camera, the Olympus SP-700 which is a very exciting camera and entering with force a very competitive market! It was announced in the US on the 04/10/05. The Olympus SP-700 will be sold for 338in North America, no bad for all this technology. This nice camera measures 98 x 57 x 24 mm and is weighting only 180 g. The SP-700 delivers a maximum resolution of 2816 x 2112. It can also be set at a lower resolution of 2288 x 1712, 1600 x 1200, 1024 x 768, 640 x 480. The image ratio (width / height) on the Olympus SP-700 has been set at 4:3, making a total of 6.0 mega pixels.

The internal sensor on the SP-700 is a CCD measuring only 1/2.5 " and uses a RGB color filter. Olympus added a digital zoom on its SP-700 with an internal flash which is always essential in a camera . The normal focus range between the camera lens and the main subject is 30 cm. The min. shutter speed of the SP-700 was set at 4 seconds and the maximum shutter speed is 1/2000 seconds. The movie mode is supported on this camera which is always a useful function. The Olympus SP-700 includes an internal memory of 11 mb extendable by using xD Picture Card + Internal.

The LCD implemented in the SP-700 is measuring 3.0 ". A video out plug exists allowing you to watch your favorite pictures on television. USB connectivity to a computer is supported.
