It was announced in North America on the 24/8/06. This model measures 88 x 60 x 28 mm and is weighting only 170 g. The FE-180 delivers a maximum resolution of 2816 x 2112. It also supports a lower resolution of 2048 x 1536, 640 x 480. The ratio of the image (width / height) on the Olympus FE-180 is set at 4:3, for a total of 6.0 mega pixels. The lens's sensor of the FE-180 is a CCD measuring only 1/2.5 " using a RGB color filter. Olympus implemented a digital zoom on the FE-180 and included an internal flash being a standard in nowadays cameras .
The minimum shutter speed (min. exposition to light) on the FE-180 was set at 1/2 seconds while the maximum shutter speed is 1/2000 seconds. The movie mode is supported on this camera which is always a useful function. The Olympus FE-180 includes an internal memory of 10 mb and can be extended with external storage by using xD Picture Card + Internal. The LCD implemented in the FE-180 measures 2.5 ". A video out plug exists letting you see your pictures on television.
